This is Harry Belafonte's first performance at Carnegie Hall, New York, April 19 and 20, 1959. It's tremendous! On a personal note, I think this was the recording that taught me that music didn't have to be written by a Russian (Tschaikovsky, Rachmaninov, etc.) and performed by a symphony orchestra.
