Beethoven - Sym #3 - Kabasta, Munich Philc (1943) [Philidor; FLAC]

Oswald Kabasta was a fine musician who made the mistake of siding vocally with the Nazi regime. Others who joined the party and kept a low profile managed to slip into the 1950s without too many problems, such as Karajan, and Schwarzkopf, but Kabasta's early visible enthusiasm prevented his protests after World War II from gaining much credence. It was removed from his post, and ultimately committed suicide. Politics aside, the recordings remain and this Eroica is among his finest.
