Travis, a man with a mysterious past, hath been established on the bank of a river between Arizona and Mexico and there he built a ferry. Over time, his initiative has attracted people and, on the US side of the river, was born a small village. Suddenly a gang of outlaws, led by Jacky Lawyer and French Marvette, advancing towards the ford, to take refuge in Mexico. Fearing for the fate of its people, Travis (after being released, with the help of his friend Phil, the three men who rent, to protect itself, had sent him to chair the chat) moved with all the people on the other side of the river. Rent s'attesta with her in the village, convinced of power, sooner or later, find the solution to force Travis ferrying. But time passes and behind the soldiers surrounded him, attracted by the past misdeeds of the gang. Megalomaniac, but short of ideas, Rent leaves the initiative to Marvette which, without build two rafts, try those with the crossing. While welcomed by a large shootout, the bandits, they end up in the water, Rent is killed in a duel with Travis.
