Description
Baby Animals – Litter of 5.1
DTS Upmix DVD by Sansdancer This is an updated version from the one I previously posted on the “D”, now with two more bonus tracks including the very rare “God Took A Picture” taken directly from the “Highlander – The Final Dimension” film VHS-HiFi video tape. (The DVD version of this movie does not contain this track.) Here are Baby Animals first and second albums plus rarities and live tracks, upmixed to 5.1 DTS surround sound using the Spec method and tools available on Surroundbyus.com. This upmix can only be played on PCs and home theater/audio systems capable of decoding and playing DTS files. You can burn it to a DVD using the ISO file. I recommend ImgBurn for best results. Baby Animals proved themselves to be one of the best Rock bands to ever come out of Australia with their two early 90’s LPs, “Baby Animals” and “Shaved And Dangerous”. Lead by the unique vocals of Suzi DeMarchi, Dave Leslie on guitar, Eddie Parise on bass and Frank Celenza on drums, their 1991 debut LP showed them to be capable of delivering solid Rock songs with riffs and hooks that stay with you. They toured the US with Van Halen, Europe with Bryan Adams and Australia/New Zealand with The Black Crowes. At the 1992 ARIA Music Awards (Australian Grammys), Baby Animals received awards for 'Best Debut Album', 'Best Single', and 'Best Album'. DeMarchi was also nominated for 'Best Female Vocalist'. Their second album, released in 1993, showed their songwriting to be maturing and broadening. They toured the US with Robert Plant to support the album. All was going well until Suzi developed problems with her throat that required surgery and sidelined her for six months. Just as they were preparing to go back on a major US tour in 1995, their US record label (Imago) went under and with it the financial support for the tour. In early 1996, the group called it quits…until re-forming in 2007 for a mostly acoustic album featuring many of their old songs with new “unplugged “arrangements (“Il Grande Silenzio”). In between that time, Suzi released a solo album (“Telelove” in 1999). Re-forming again in 2009 they started work on a new album and announced a 14 date Australian tour. Just prior to staring the tour, Parise and Celenza were replaced with Matt Cornell (bass) and Mike Skelton (drums). The tour was wildly successful, but no other work was done on the new album. I have included the only two tracks leaked from the 2009 recording sessions at the end of my upmix. It was announced in June 2012 that the group plans to resume recording in August. For best results, play this at high volume on a system with front and rear speakers of equal size and sonic characteristics. There are pictures to accompany the songs.
