It is located in Manhattan, at 125 East 11th Street, between 3rd and 4th Avenues. This concert aired live online the day before the release of Avril's second album, Under My Skin (see accompanying press release). then later on European TV. This show followed hot on the heels of a 21-city Mall Tour of Canada and the US, sponsored by AOL for Broadband. These were acoustic sets performed by Avril with Evan. This electric set was to kick off Avril's UMS summer world, promo tour. All proceeds of the event were meant to fund help for children in Africa affected with HIV/AIDS, through the charitable organization Keep a Child Alive. AOL made an allotment of tickets available for purchase with all proceeds from the ticket sales going to benefit Keep a Child Alive. Tickets were made available as well through giveaways on Z-100 in New York City and several Infinity Broadcasting radio stations around the country. Fans could also get tickets at select NY retail outlets and from Avril Lavigne's official fan club. When this file surfaced a few years ago from Shiroc it was a shocking rock to behold. It was a Ground Control to Major Upload (Whoa!) to what had previously been on offer at Avril-Media. The picture resolution is significantly larger and the sound is definitely clearer. High quality file not to be filed away! Now for my liking, the AOL director does flash to too many shots of individuals in the crowd. But as this show was all about a thank you to the fans, what the hell. Other than that the live editing just hits it, the camera transitions glow as they flow, allowing her beauty and artistry to shine so fine that her glorious pop reign rolls on through her latest high-test works that come out to play, to say hey, she's here to stay with you. Looking back I must say can feel what would have been my real disappointment from my knowing at the time when then... That there are no shots to flash of her once rockin sidekick, rhythm guitarist Jesse Colburn. Why he's, disappeared! At the end of that summer, lead guitarist Evan Taubenfeld will be gone as well. After Avril then the two most dynamic stage-presences are just *poof* gone. A year later, longtime bassist Charlie Moniz and drummer Matt Braun will have played their last shows as well. This will leave Avril with the end of her 'Let Go'/'Try To Shut Me Up' band. And instead with a bunch of studio musicians, helping hired hands competent though they may be. Just so it becomes less about team and more about me from Napanee. "Fun's over, back on the bus!" Avril thus becomes the last musician on stage with a winning go wild personality. She runs her own damn ship full speed ahead. But I am getting ahead of myself and besides, she's the star and will still fire afar. So what's so great then about this concert? Why she is many a splendored thing. This is Avril's first show playing her brand new material with the band and in an electric setting. There are a few miscues, but that just adds to the excitement. The band's clown prince Jesse is yesterday's news yes. But Av's other winged wild thing, her knight in shining armor, Evan is still here and a joy on point. Finally, what matters most as it has is, Avril. And here she is so on. Avril has come back to the road as a rich, independent girl. She is reaping the financial rewards of her early, major success. She has broken up with Jesse and is moving on to the rest of the world in a big way. 'Don't Tell Me,' her new single, was all over the radio and climbing the charts all around. This show comes on the eve of destruction of the drop of her second CD Under My Skin all over the planet before her. An album which this time she called all her own device. Her star is established now. Av is on the verge of turning twenty and is already expressing more of her sexuality, revealing more of her beauty. She is brimming with joy and confidence and ready to rock the world again anew. And with what awesome hair! For one week only she wore a perm to declare her own permanency in the residency of our heads forever. Av says, "Sweet-ah! It's awesome to be up here playing these songs, to you guys." And later, "And that! Is why I do what I do!" I have never heard her thank a crowd so much. Seems like after every song. While 'Losing Grip,' AL sings: "Why should I care... AL later asks: "Why should we care?" Just because you're so lovably Avril. "And I don't want to fall to pieces / I just wanna sit and stare at you." This show's fiery blasts kick gloriously hot damn ass. What more can I say? Nobody's Home Only her song of the year she plays so dear for you. Somebody must love you. Get well, Avril! Don't go knockin' on heaven's door. The real heaven has no door but is right here and now with you. Gotta have AvLav. Sharing WidgetScreenshots |
