Note: This was Avril's first live performance since March of that same year. The NYE appearance actually marked her official return to promoting new music as well as touring, after the end of the "The Best Damn Thing" Tour of 2008.

"What The Hell," the new single, on New Year's Eve, premiered worldwide live. The studio-single then made its debut as a free download on Avril's Facebook page on New Years Day.

To Popeater on 12-30-10, Av "described 'What the Hell' as 'a really fun, upbeat party song, so it worked out really well to play it for the first time on New Year's Rockin' Eve.'

"She also says, 'I want to get a little shiny, so I'm wearing a silver dress with spiky shoes.

"'The song is more reminiscent of some of my old pop rock stuff,' adds Lavigne."

NYE WTH, easily my best Avril thrill up on 2011 hill.

Here What The Hell is the wrecking belle of the firestarter's ball. While Girlfriend is just the usual living loving end.

So silver-spike that party punch-bowl already!
