Underrated, atmospheric, and, sadly, little seen, horror/thriller from one of our great directors, Robert Wise (The Haunting, West Side Story, Day the Earth Stood Still). From the novel by Frank De Felitta (The Entity), who claims he based it on a true experience with his own six year old son.

Yes, it’s talky, and a little slow by today’s standards, but give it a chance and you might find it gets under your skin just enough to make it all worthwhile.

Anthony Hopkins, Marsha Mason and John Beck all give it their best, so get some snacks, turn down the lights and watch it with a friend.

NOTE: A somewhat disappointing Blue-Ray disc (limited edition - only 3000!) was released Oct 2014, but did little to increase awareness of the pic. Maybe worth lobbying MGM for a slightly more loving restoration at some point ..?
