The Hobbit from 1977. Produced by Rankin-Bass in the US and Topcraft in Japan, and aired on NBC in September 1977.

Most releases of this title since 2001 have the sound effects featured from the original animation edited out, sometimes seeming ridiculous (e.g. seeing mugs clank in the shadows, but you don't hear a clank due to the editing). However, between 1980 and 2001, VHS releases of this title feature the sound effects intact.

AtrociousRips initially was going to use the high quality stereo DVD release of The Hobbit for this release until we found out that many of the original sound effects were digitally removed for the DVDs. AtrociousRips then found a decent quality VHS copy of The Hobbit in the house of popularboy9, the ringmaster of the operation. When we watched the VHS copy, we saw that it was the unedited, original version of The Hobbit. We proceeded to rip the entire thing and release it.
