What I’VE been doing lately is working on other AT40 shows (actually, I'm trying not to turn my new gal into a computer widow), so these shows are from the Vault, meaning I haven’t had time to listen to all of them. This is what they look like before I “Rocketize” them, and I’m quite sure I will get back to them just because that’s what I do.

Last Of The Dinosaurs: With Neil Young's Harvest album #1 for the year (which featured his number one hit single Heart Of Gold), the end of the "Hippie" era was marked. 1972 was the last of the counterculture-type songs that achieved great popularity.

No More Echo: Better studio equipment brought an end to the "echo" effect heard in the background of most top 40 hits through the 1960's. By '72, this background noise was almost completely eliminated, and a more synthesized sound emerged in Pop music. This was no better demonstrated than the "techno" instrumental by Hot Butter called Popcorn, which "imitated" a musical popcorn popping machine.
