Description

"We're counting down the most popular songs in the country from Racine to Killeen, and from Stanton to Canton."

American Top 40 with Casey Kasem aired on radio from July 4, 1970 until August 6, 1988.

This broadcast was previously shared without the first hour, only one extra, and it was also poorly done. This is how it should have been.

Casey tells us whatever happened to The Mamas and The Papas.

Casey says he remembers a time when Evelyn "Champagne" King was just called "Bubbles."

"Heart Of Glass" by Blondie is the highest debuting song of the week, on its way to number one.

A listener writes in to ask, "What record, in its original version, took the longest time after its first release, to hit the top 40?" Casey says this record took 28 years to hit the chart and it involved shaving cream.

There is a band in the countdown who appeared on Dick Clark's American Bandstand without ever having performed in public and without ever having a hit record.

A listener wants to know, "What recording act has placed the most top 40 singles on the charts in the 1970's?" Casey lists the top 4.
