"Coming up in the next three hours we've got the latest hits by Eagles, Wings, Rod Stewart, and many other superstars. We'll also hear the brand new #1 Soul and Country songs in the USA, along with the biggest #1 Pop song so far this year. Of the hundreds of singles released every week, these are the forty most popular songs in America."

Originally broadcast on March 19th, 1977, this program is brought to you by RocketMan's College of Musical Knowledge in conjunction with the CoPilot of the Airwaves (and his faithful dog Shukatoom). This is American Top 40 with Casey Kasem.

Casey says when you look in the AT40 Book of Records for the all-white group that's been most successful on the Soul Chart, you find a four-man, Italian-American vocal group from New Jersey.

A listener wants to know what recording act during the Rock Era had the most #1 songs in a single calendar year. The winning act had six, but the interesting part is the three other superstar recording acts that tied for second place. Casey tells all about it.

The group ELO is at number 28 with "Do Ya" but Casey reports their leader as saying he hates working with the classical musicians who give the group its distinctive sound. It's complicated but Casey makes sense of it all.

A listener writes, "Dear Casey, My question is short and simple. Has there ever been a Top 40 hit whose title was the same as the name of the recording act?" Casey says only two groups in the late 60's managed to hit the Top 40 with such songs, and names names.

A listener from Western Australia wants to know if any Dutch artists have ever hit on the American charts. Casey says four acts from the Netherlands have, and one of them made it to #1 (I feel like I'm at IHOP).
