About the Show We popped and locked and made the Soulja Boy dance craze look like the funky chicken. And it didn't matter if you had no clue what paso doble or fox trot meant, 'cause we brought the streets to the stage in the competitive dance series Randy Jackson Presents: America's Best Dance Crew! After scouring the country for the top street and studio dance crews, we found 12 of the very best groups to grace our stage. With their dreams on the line, these crews did their best to impress our panel of judges, including singers JC Chasez and Lil Mama and choreographer Shane Sparks, host Mario Lopez and, yes, American Idol's Randy Jackson. After the first dance-off, only the elite eight remained in the competition, and in the end, only one team was crowned America's Best Dance Crew. Week after week, each dance crew -- consisting of five or more members -- worked their butts off to demonstrate their most innovative choreography and sickest dance skills. The crews were asked to recreate the moves seen in the hottest music videos, use their fancy footwork to reenact their favorite movie scenes and pay homage to the classic grooves (and moves) of the past. But it was hard to keep the beat and stay on point with so many people competing for the title of America's Best Dance Crew, and there were plenty of showdowns, trash talk and dramatic dance-offs! And you were right in the middle of the action! As it all unfolded, you had the chance to vote for your favorite dance crew -- yup, their fates were in your hands. Once we tallied up the votes, the two weakest links had to battle it out, showing the judges their best moves for the chance to advance to the next round. One crew was eliminated each week, ultimately revealing America's Best Dance Crew! More than 40 million votes were cast during season 1, but in the end it was JabbaWockeeZ who bested runners up Status Quo and Kaba Modern. The West Coast wild men wowed the crowd week after week with their synchronized moves and signature masks, nabbing the coveted title of America's Best Dance Crew and the $100,000 cash prize.
