Plot :

Danny and Bernie are two single men who live in Chicago. When Danny meets Debbie at Mother Malone's ("Mother's"), a bar in the Chicago Gold Coast, the two start a relationship from a one-night stand. The film follows the couple for the first year of their relationship: their meeting after a softball game, her moving in with him, mutual friction at Thanksgiving, their breakup on New Year's Eve, his apology and declaration of love on St. Patrick's Day, and their reconciliation at a softball game.

Trama :

Danny e Debbie si incontrano casualmente in un locale, attratti l'uno dall'altra finiscono per trascorrere la notte assieme. Quella che poteva sembrare una notte di sesso occasionale si trasforma in qualcosa di più serio, Danny e Debbie inizieranno a frequentarsi fino a decidere di andare a convivere. Nonostante essere stati messi in guardia dai rispettivi amici, i due capiranno ben presto che la vita di coppia non è tutta rose e fiori. Debbie cercherà di far funzionare il rapporto, nonostante Danny si senta sempre più spaventato dalla perdita della libertà e troppo giovane per mettere su famiglia.
