Description
A Muppet Family Christmas UNCUT / The Christmas Toy UNCUT Starring Jim Henson's Muppets This is a double-feature, in DVD quality, of A Muppet Family Christmas (the slightly shorter 1989 edit), and The Christmas Toy. Both are uncut and in full quality. The American DVDs of both of these are cut, to remove five songs and Kermit respectively. I used the UK DVDs as a source to restore the missing material. Otherwise the bulk of the feature is identical in quality to the commercially-sold DVDs. ---- A Muppet Family Christmas is a TV special that premiered on December 16, 1987 on ABC. In this one-hour Christmas special, Fozzie Bear surprises his mother Emily on Christmas Eve by bringing the entire Muppet gang to her farm to celebrate the holidays. Doc and his dog Sprocket, who had planned a quiet Christmas, end up joining the Muppets in their holiday activities and preparations. The Sesame Street regulars, including Big Bird, Bert, Ernie and others, join the festivities, but to Kermit's dismay, the only one missing is Miss Piggy, who has been caught in a snowstorm. ABC re-broadcast the special following year on December 2, 1988. It was then re-edited, and aired on NBC as an episode of The Magical World of Disney on December 24, 1989. --- This is the 1989 edit of the special, which is the only edit ever released on home video. The original 1987 edit had some extra footage, most notably a scene between Fozzie and his mother about his stocking. --- The current US DVD release of this special omits the songs "Sleigh Ride," "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," "Home for the Holidays," "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," and "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day" due to music rights. You'll be happy to know that all five songs are restored in this DVD. ---- The Christmas Toy aired on ABC on December 6, 1986. It was later adapted into a storybook in 1987. In this one-hour Christmas special, Christmas Eve is celebrated at the Jones' home, where the toys in the playroom magically come to life when people are not around. Following an introduction by Kermit the Frog, who provides a glimpse into the Jones' household as the family makes holiday preparations, the toys talk about the meaning of Christmas and how they will prepare to welcome the new toys that will be given to the Jones children, Jamie and Jesse. Rugby Tiger, who was Jamie's Christmas present the previous year, remembers that special day, and decides to find a way into a gift box under the tree again this year. But the other toys are worried that he will become "frozen" once he leaves the playroom, and they devise a plan to rescue him. The special spawned the 1994 spin-off series The Secret Life of Toys. ---- The current US DVD release omits Kermit's appearances at the beginning and end, including the song number reprising "Old Friends." You'll be happy to know that Kermit's appearances are restored in this DVD. Related Torrents
