The Festival di Sanremo is a new-song showcase and contest held annually in Sanremo, Italy. These romantic, semi-operatic songs all debuted at the 1967 contest, but the performances are all cover versions; different artists performed them at the contest. Mino and Connie Francis did sing in the contest, but not the songs featured here. Strangely, on this album, Connie Francis is billed as just 'Francis', I'm guessing either to hide the fact that she wasn't Italian or maybe just because another record company owned her name on wax.
