Louis Armstrong was a famous trumpet player and singer with a distinctive, tonal growl. On this album, he sings a number of standards with accompaniment in the lounge/Hollywood/Vegas style of gentle jazz-pop that was very popular in the 1950s and 1960s. Each song has a vocal portion and an instrumental portion of equal or greater length, featuring Armstrong's solo trumpet skills. This record was in pretty good shape. What little surface noise there was, I was able to remove manually so as not to interfere with the music. There may still be a few stray clicks here and there, though, so please consider it part of the charm of listening to old records. Sharing Widget |
