German destruction and savagery during their invasion was as if worst nightmares came all at ones and became reality for the suffering Russians. But in the in the end, against all odds, the Russian "subhumans / untermensch" won against Wermacht, eventually pushing them all the way back to Berlin, the city that Russians in the end took, thus marking the end of the WW2.

The Russian contribution to the final victory over Nazis can hardly be overstated.
