Shankar Nag, during the time he made Minchina Ota, had been in remarkable form. But this is a slightly disappointing effort.Not the idea, but the execution. A subject which had potential to be a really fun, edge-of-the-seat road movie achieves only half of what it sets out to do.The Nag brothers are in good form and there is the pre-Rajani Priya Tendulkar as well.A tighter script would have made this a classic. Well, for Kannada cinema, it still is one.I would recommend Accident as Shankar Nag's best effort. But I have yet to see some of his other films.Malgudi Days is a brilliant effort by Nag because he honestly kept, among other things, the most important element of R. K. Narayan's writing, simplicity.
But Minchina Ota... could have been better.
